The Pokémon franchise is the Game Freak/Nintendo collaboration that has taken the world by storm since the '90s. From just one game, an entire phenomenon and culture have been generated that has spanned into animated series, live-action movies, dedicated stores, entire clothing lines, and of course the trading card game.

With a world that only seems to continuously grow with each new medium, platform, and entry, Pokémon has only gotten more colorful as the years have gone by. And while much of that has lead to greater detail and personality in the world, certain details have added a little more to the imagination than its creators might have hoped. This list will be running down a few unintentional implications of the Pokémon world that can only leave fans laughing.
10 You Can Befriend Pokémon By Ambushing Them In The WoodsAt the heart of this beloved series is its wonderful species of mascots that are the Pokémon themselves. Lovable and powerful creatures, these fun little fellas have set the precedent within the series for cultivating success and progress only through proper nurturing and friendship. However, what initiates that friendship in the first place is kind of dubious.
To get a furry new friend in the series, all one has to do is to attack them at random and incapacitate them enough just enough to catch them and trap them in a ball. Then players can pretty much expect them to be their best friends, despite them having just attacked the aforementioned Pokémon seconds earlier.
9 Pokémon Are Intelligent Enough To TalkIt's really strange that much of the Pokémon world is ruled and regulated by human beings, considering the fact that there are several, common Pokémon across the world whose intelligence not only matches but even surpasses human intellect. This includes the supercomputer minds of Alakazam or Metagross.
This means the greater wisdom of Slowking. All of them are vastly capable of creatures that, for some reason, don't seek out political office or leadership in this world, despite being heavily equipped enough to create rival societies of their own. Perhaps the strangest of all, Team Rocket's Meowth has proved that, with hard enough work, Pokémon can learn to speak and interact like humans. If this is true, why isn't the world trying to help give a proper education to all of its Pokémon?
8 People Eat Pokémon... Just Off-Screen"Where does meat come from?" must be kind of a strange question in the Pokémon world. While the people of this eclectic world certainly do eat a little more than just fruits and vegetables, it's become a delicate subject of where exactly the world's meat has come from.

Fortunately enough, Team Rocket broke the ice on the topic in an episode where they near starved to death and imagined eating a Magikarp. There is meat in Pokémon. It's actually likely all just Pokémon. Meat. Is. Pokémon.
7 The Entire World's Policing And Pokémon Nursing Forces Belong To Two FamiliesThis one's just really dubious to take in, even within the anime. Is no one really questioning how two different families have managed to have a single, DNA chain span several generations? Even accepting that as just an improbability and not an impossibility, is no one concerned that the entire world's police forces and Pokémon health care seem to be centralized within a couple of families?
Are there really no other people who want or are even qualified enough to become cops or nurses in this world? If a kid wants to become a cop, do they say that they want to become an Officer Jenny when they grow up? Someone better be looking into this.
6 Inexperienced Pokémon Trainers Could Be Easily Taken Advantage OfIs there a specific rule book as to how casual Pokémon battles are supposed to turn out or are most trainers just mugging people in the street? Part of being a Pokémon trainer is testing one's metal against the abilities and line ups of other trainers. And while experience and victory are certainly great byproducts of these encounters, it's a little odd seeing as how 10-year-old-kids, when they lose, have to cough up some money to their opponent. It just seems to be mean.
It also seems exploitable if some of the more experienced pros, who aren't exactly gym leader quality but still better than little kids, can exploit this fact to make a killing off of inexperienced trainers. There's not stopping them either. They have better Pokémon! Where's an Officer Jenny when you need one?
5 Fighting Is An International SportPeople around the world have kind of understood this fact but have just passed it off as just fun within the context of a game. As explained above, trainers go out into the world to catch Pokémon and create competitive teams for themselves. Said Pokémon and teams are then used to fight other Pokémon for... reasons.

Aside from the fact that it's fun to watch and really competitive, there really isn't a lot of utility in Pokémon abilities, especially for the Pokémon who were snatched up from their peaceful livings in the woods to fight in battles for the rest of their lives. The Detective Pikachu movie even has Pokémon battles as an underground, dog fighting ring that is frowned upon.
4 If You Don't Catch A Drifloon, It'll Catch You!Getting into the specifics of adorably cute yet incredibly dangerous demons, the world of Pokémon essentially has 10-year-old kids go out to try and fight and catch a variety of powerful and dangerous monsters. While they look cute, a lot of Pokémon are actually pretty dangerous and some are even especially harmful to kids.
With Drifloon in particular, the wispy, ghost balloon is actually infamous for snatching up children that mistake it for an actual party item. Shouldn't there be a warning or even Amber Alerts about this? Why are kids held responsible for fighting and researching things that literally want to kidnap them?
3 Homes Can Practically Be Decorated With PokemonIt has become apparent over Game Freak's decades-spanning career that the game company is starting to run out of Pokémon ideas. So much so, that they are basically ripping off the ending of The Usual Suspects and just naming things that they see around their office. This has come to mean making Pokémon out of ice cream cones, trash bags, chandeliers, and even keys!

Art is not the only thing that can imitate life as the implication here is that more and more Pokémon are beginning to be influenced by and are reflecting the human world. Besides just being lazily designed, this means that anything that does exist can possibly exist again as a Pokémon, with the line between regular and anthropomorphic furniture blurring more and more every year.
2 People Are Grown Up At The Age Of TenA joked about quality since the franchise's inception, it's incredibly hilarious to think that the citizens of the Pokémon world are ready to be independent and leave the domicile, not at 18, not at 16, but at the humble and apparently experienced age of 10. These are little kids that are entrusted to create entire careers and journeys at a fragile young age.
There are kids traversing entire mountains that adults die on. There are kids that travel alone in the predatory hotspots that are planes, trains, and boats. There are kids entrusted to be at the frontlines of entire battles against terrorist organizations. It's kind of a nightmare world that has such high expectations of its children.
1 Scientists Can't Afford Actual ResearchersA trait that kind of just flies by but should really be looked at by some governing body is the fact that the scientists of Pokémon are using child labor for their dangerous research. They aren't hiring expert adventurers or lab assistants. Actually, they aren't technically hiring Pokémon trainers either, as these kids never see a dime for their trouble.
As lovable and quirky as Professor Oak is, he's kind of a scumbag for having even his own grandson embark on a dangerous journey to collect his research and update his Pokédex.
