'Pokémon Go' Raid Update: Thundurus Counters & Every New Change

One of the many updates in Pokémon Go in the month of March is the arrival of Thundurus.

Thundurus is one of the Djinns from the Unova region alongside Tornadus, who was included in Level 5 Raids in February, and Landorus, which has yet to make its Pokémon Go debut.

As is the case with many arrivals in Pokémon Go Raids, the rest of the bosses shift to coincide with it. Thundurus' debut in Pokémon Go marks the beginning of the mobile game's massive slate of March updates and it will keep trainers busy until the first event this weekend.

If you want to battle and catch Thundurus in Pokémon Go, continue reading on for our guide to which Pokémon to bring into battle and what bosses are appearing in the various Raids.

POKÉMON GO THUNDURUS COUNTERS

Thundurus is an Electric and Flying-type Pokémon making it weak to Rock and Ice-type attacks. This Legendary also resists Flying, Fighting, Bug, Grass, and Steel-type attacks so players will want to avoid bringing Pokémon that have those moves.

Luckily for trainers, there are plenty of powerful Ice and Rock-type Pokémon already in the game. Here are some Pokémon that players should bring into battle against Thundurus:

  • Rampardos with Smackdown and Rock Slide
  • Rampardos with Smackdown and Rock Wrecker
  • Mamoswine with Powder Snow and Avalanche
  • Terrakion with Smackdown and Rock Slide
  • Glaceon with Frost Breath and Avalanche
  • Tyranitar with Smackdown and Stone Edge
  • Weavile with Ice Shard and Avalanche
  • Gigalith with Smackdown and Rock Slide
  • POKÉMON GO RAID UPDATE

Thundurus' arrival in Pokémon Go has shifted what Pokémon appear in Raid battles. To help trainers collect a team of six to take on the Legendary, most of the Raids in this latest update include Ice and Rock-type Pokémon.

If you're looking for a Pokémon to counter Thundurus, we recommend going after Tyranitar, Sneasel and Boldore as they deal the most damage when fully evolved.

Some Raids continue to host the usual Raid Pokémon like Alolan Marowak and Mawile.

Here's the list of Raids in Pokémon Go in conjunction with Thundurus' arrival.

    Level 1
  • Cubchoo
  • Cranidos
  • Klink
  • Timburr
  • Dwebble
